My approach is informed by canine ethology (Applied Ethology) and is minimally aversive and rewards-based. The goal for your dog is to navigate social situations in a calm, attentive, and polite manner. We focus on preventing dangerous, destructive, or rude behaviors by emphasizing early socialization and training essential skills for a companion or family pet, such as bite inhibition, coming when called, being still on command, impulse control, and good manners, and of course, basic obedience. We believe that training should be a pleasant experience for both dogs and their humans. Breed selection is the key to a harmonious home, as a compatible breed aligns with your lifestyle ( breed consultations at no charge). Early socialization, play dates, and our puppy sessions and classes are integral to raising a well-adjusted pet. Our methods reflect this philosophy. Early training and socialization help avoid the need for social remediation and behavior modification later in your dog's life. By investing time upfront with individualized training plans, you can prevent the need for costly behavior modification down the line.

In-home Observation & Individual Behavior Plan (Expect for me to be with you for several hours)
In-home Puppy Training & Coaching, (Manners, Basic Obedience, Leash-train)
$115 per session
Process for intake: 1) complimentary phone or Zoom consult, 2) you return my questionnaire, 3) schedule an in-home observation, 5) begin in-home sessions advancing to walks around your neighborhood, and other high distraction areas -- recomendation is for 2 or 3x per week, reducing to 1x per week. as agreed/needed..
Obedience., Confidence Building, Impulse Control-High Distraction Areas
$185 Per Session
An hour and a half session in high distraction areas that your frequent or would like to frequent -- addressing common issues, such as pulling on the leash and ensuring reliable recall in high These sessions incorporate an individualized training plan with personalized activities like fetch or frisbee, tailored to your needs and interests, as well as your pup's interests.
Behavior Modification
$225 Per Session
Comprehensive canine behavior consulting (utilizing Applied Ethology) -- sessions designed to address issues such as counter surfing, jumping on you or guests, door manners, door rushing, and leash reactivity utilizing balanced training techniques. Applied Ethology utilizes what we know about the dog-human relationship from evolutionary anthropology and evolutionary biology to resolve or reduce difficulties in your pup's behavior. A corollary to this approach is Natural Horsemanship.
Adventure Training
Activities drive cost
Our extensive off-leash training employs balanced training techniques with a strong focus on developing reliable recall. We also prepare dogs for various activities such as running alongside a bicycle, hiking, kayaking, riding on a side-by-side or four-wheeler, and boating. These training sessions are specifically designed for dogs who do not exhibit aggression, leash, or fear reactivity. If any of these issues arise, they can be effectively addressed through our canine behavior consultancy and customized individualized training plans.

An Individualized Puppy Training and Welfare Plan (utilizing Applied Ethology) focusing on social skills and basic obedience can help avoid the need for remediation and behavior modification later in an adult dog's life. By investing time on the front end, you can prevent most canine behavior issues down the line.
